"Maniac Latex" – inspired while dancing in Berghain

„Maniac Latex“ handmade aus Berlin hört sich wild an – und ist es auch! Der Leopard – der Trend Print 2018 – faucht mir engegen als ich den Online Shop betrete, weshalb ein „Muss ich haben“ Gefühl sofort entsteht.
Theresa Ziege ist in Halle/Saale geboren aber dann doch dahin gegangen, wo man sich austoben kann: Berlin! Ich sage: „Gut so!“ Ihr Design ist manchmal schlicht und dann wieder ungewöhnlich und gelegentlich farblich sehr grell. Mir gefallen diese Eye Catcher sehr, weshalb ich mich sehr auf „Maniac Latex“ freue. Inspirationen für ihre Werke findet die Designerin oft beim Tanzen im Berghain.
Die Berlinerin war schon im letzten Jahr dabei und hat eine tolle Zeit mit ihrem gesamten Team auf der Avantgardista verbracht, weshalb sie dieses Jahr sofort wieder zugesagt hat. Sehr gefreut hat sie sich über neue Kunden, was aus wirtschaftlicher Sicht für alle Designer ein wichtiger Punkt ist. Die Avantgardista bietet in München eine Plattform auf einem hohen Niveau, welche so einzigartig in München stattfindet.
Einen Showroom mit vielen Samples und einigen Ready-To-Wear Outfits bietet uns Theresa an, wo man sich sein Lieblingsdesign aussuchen oder sich direkt vermessen lassen kann. Individuell maßgeschneidert, maskulin und gradlinig – ich bin schon ganz fasziniert. Alles fertigt die Hauptstädterin selbst in detailierter Handarbeit an.
Das Design besteht ausschließlich aus Latex. Achtung, jetzt wird es etwas nerdy. Latex ist im allgemeinen eine Polymerdispersion, also ein Gemisch aus Kunststoffpartikeln und einer wasserartigen Flüssigkeit. In der Fetischszene ist Gummi und Latexbekleidung auch durch die speziellen Eigenschaften des Materials beliebt. Die besonderen Reize sind vor allem die Betonung der Körperform, der Geruch, die Geräusche, welche beim An- und Ausziehen verursacht werden und das Tragen der Kleidung an sich. Dieses Jahr erleben wir modisch allerdings überall Fetish Fashion, wie ich euch in diesem Post schon berichtet habe.
Theresa, deine Outfits sind teilweise quietschebunt und auch körperbetont gewagt. Fetish Fashion im Alltag oder eher im Club – wo siehst du dein Label?
Theresa: „Latex kann man sehr schön mit „normalen“ Sachen kombinieren. Und generell in den Alltag mit einbauen. Ich möchte das Material auch lieber aus der Fashion Sicht betrachten als aus dem Fetischaspekt.
Ein besonderes Lieblingsstück habe ich nicht. Das wechselt schlicht von Kollektion zu Kollektion, als auch welches Model es wie präsentiert. Gehe ich nach den Verkaufszahlen, dann ist es bei den Männern die „Regimental Jacket“ und bei den Frauen der „Striped Body“.“
Ich habe schon deine Latex Kollektion in „Leo Print“ erwähnt. Was ist weiteres besonders an „Maniac Latex“, womit hebst du dich ab?
„Grundsätzlich arbeite ich gerne klassisch, minimal und geometrisch. Ich kann das Rad ja auch nicht neu erfinden, nur etwas besser verpacken ;-). Da ich quasi die Nische in der Nische bediene, biete ich dem Kunden aber schon eine andere Show, denn welches Latexlabel hatte jemals zuvor zehn Männer auf der Bühne und zeigt auch, dass diese elegant darin aussehen können?! Ganz individuell auf den jeweiligen Charakter abgestimmt?! Darauf dürfen die Zuschauer am 20. Oktober gespannt sein.“
Zurück ins Jahr 2000 – Fetish Fashion war auch dort plötzlich en vogue und in Filmen wie „DAS FÜNFTE ELEMENT“ ein prägnantes Merkmal. Hat dich das beeinflusst?
„Ja, sehr sogar, weil ich in dieser Zeit meine Karriere gestartet habe. In Halle/Saale habe ich eine Ausbildung zur Modedesignerin an einer Privatschule gemacht, wobei mich schon damals der Bereich Fashionshow fasziniert hat, was ich auch in den 3,5 Jahren an dieser Schule umsetzen konnte, ähnlich wie auf der Avantgardista. Also vom Entwurf über dessen Fertigung bis zur Show und bis hin zum Verkauf habe ich alles von der Pike individuell erlernt. Ich wollte immer kreativ tätig sein und mit meinen Händen was schaffen. Dass es am Ende Latex wurde, kam durch die Anfang 2000er aufkommende Mainstream Bewegung.
Meine Eltern haben mich immer in dem gefördert und unterstützt, was ich mir in den Kopf gesetzt habe, da sie mich und meinen Bruder zur Selbstbestimmung erzogen haben. Auch wenn ich manchmal glaube, mein Vater hätte mich gerne in einem studierten, besser bezahlten Beruf gesehen – sorry Vati 😀 .“
Im Bezug auf deine Arbeit, wer darf dort Kritik üben?
„Alle, mit denen ich zusammenarbeite oder um deren Rat ich bitte. Also mein eigener kleiner Kreis. Fremde haben es da generell schwer bei mir und können von mir auch einfach kommentarlos stehen gelassen werden. Konstruktiver Kritik stehe ich aber immer offen gegenüber, wir sind schließlich alle nur Menschen, die Fehler begehen.“
Du hast einen Kater – dein Seelentier?
„Mein Kater ist immer hungrig, sogar gelegentlich in der Nacht werde ich geweckt, weshalb ich ihn sehr beneide: Den ganzen Tag schlafen, fressen und gekuschelt werden. Was gäbe es schöneres?! And: I could lick my own balls ;-).“
Ein wildes Leben in Berlin, einen Job von dem andere Träumen. Lebst du deinen Beruf oder gibt es auch entspannte Phasen?
„Ich lebe absolut in meinem Beruf, plane meine Zukunft nicht großartig und bereue nichts, was bisher geschehen ist. Dafür wäre das Leben zu schade!
Auszeiten gönne ich mir gerne in Berlin selbst, beispielsweise im Sommer viel auf dem Fahrrad. Wie schön diese Stadt und generell die Natur ist, unglaublich!
Mein liebstes Reiseziel ist allerdings L.A. Wenn ich könnte wie ich wollte…diese Stadt und deren Vibe fasziniert mich einfach, inspiriert vorallem durch die Musik. Ich lebe und träume viel in den 60er/70er/80er Jahren.
Gern schaue ich auch Filme und habe einige Favoriten: „Legende“, niemand ist ein besserer Teufel als Tim Curry! Und ja, sonst noch „Romeo und Julia“ mit Leonardo di Caprio sowie „Mary & Max“ – heidenlos romantisch!“

„Maniac Latex“ – inspired while dancing in Berghain
„Maniac Latex“ handmade from Berlin sounds wild – and it is! The leopard – the trend print 2018 – hisses against me as I enter the online shop, which is why a „must have“ feeling occurs immediately.
Theresa Ziege was born in Halle/Saale but then went where you can let off steam: Berlin! I say: „That’s good! Her design is sometimes simple and then again unusual and occasionally very bright in colour. I like these eye catcher very much, which is why I’m very much looking forward to „Maniac Latex“. The designer often finds inspiration for her works while dancing in the Berghain.
The Berlin girl was already there last year and spent a great time with her whole team at the Avantgardista, that‘ s why she accepted again this year. She was very happy about new customers, which is an important point for all designers from an economic point of view. The Avantgardista in Munich offers a platform on a high level, one that is so unique in Munich.
Theresa offers us a showroom with many samples and some ready-to-wear outfits, allowing you to choose your favourite design or have it measured directly. Custom-tailored, masculine and straight-line – I’m already quite fascinated. Everything is handcrafted in detail by the capital city dweller herself.
The design consists exclusively of latex. Attention, now it gets a bit nerdy. Latex is generally a polymer dispersion, a mixture of plastic particles and a watery liquid. In the fetish scene rubber and latex clothing is popular due to the special properties of the material. The special stimuli are above all the emphasis on the body shape, the smell, the noises caused by dressing and undressing and the wearing of the clothes themselves. This year, however, we are experiencing fetish fashion everywhere, as I have already reported to you in this post.
Theresa, your outfits are partly colourful and also body-hugging. Fetish fashion in everyday life or rather in the club – where do you see your label?
Theresa: „Latex can be combined very nicely with „normal“ cloth. And generally in the everyday life with integrate. I’d rather look at the material from a fashion point of view than from a fetish point of view.
I don’t have a special favorite piece. That simply changes from collection to collection as well as which model presents it and how. If I look at the sales figures, then it’s the „Regimental Jacket“ for men and the „Striped Body“ for women.“
I already mentioned your latex collection in „Leo Print“ What else is special about „Maniac Latex“, how do you stand out?
„Basically I like to work classic, minimal and geometric. I can’t reinvent the wheel either, just pack it a little better ;-). Since I serve the niche in the niche, I already offer the customer another show. Which latex label has ever had ten men on stage before and also shows that they can look elegant in it?! Individually adjusted to the respective character?! The audience can look forward to it on 20 October.“
Back to the year 2000 – fetish fashion was suddenly en vogue there as well and a striking feature in films like „THE FITH ELEMENT“. Did that influence you?
„Yes, absolutly because I started my career during that time. In Halle/Saale I trained as a fashion designer in a private school. Even then I was fascinated by fashion shows, which I was able to do during the 3.5 years at this school, similar to the Avantgardista. So from the design, to its production, to the show and up to the sale I learned everything from the ground up individually. I always wanted to be creative and create something with my hands. The fact that it became latex in the end was due to the mainstream movement emerging in the early 2000s.
My parents always encouraged and supported me in what I put into my head, because they raised me and my brother to self-determination. Even though I sometimes think my father would have liked to see me in a studied, better paid Profession – sorry dad :D.“
Regarding your work, who is allowed to criticize there?
„Everyone I work with or ask for their advice. So my own small circle. Strangers generally have a hard time with me and can simply be left without comment. But I am always open to constructive criticism, after all we are all just people who make mistakes.“
You have a tomcat – your soul animal?
„My cat is always hungry, even occasionally at night I get woken up. That’s why I envy him very much: Sleeping, eating and being cuddled all day long. What could be nicer?! And: I could lick my own balls ;-).“
A wild life in Berlin, a job of which other dreams. Do you live your job or are there also relaxed phases?
„I live absolutely in my profession, do not plan my future great and do not regret anything that has happened so far. Life would be too bad for that!
I like to take a break in Berlin itself, in summer a lot on my bike. How beautiful this city and nature in general is, unbeliveable!
My favourite destination is LA. If I could go as I wanted…this city and its vibe simply fascinates me, inspired above all by the music. I live and dream a lot in the 60ies/70ies/80ies.
I also like to watch movies and have some favourites: „Legend“, nobody is a better devil than Tim Curry! And yes, I also love „Romeo and Juliet“ with Leonardo di Caprio and „Mary & Max“ – absolutely romantic!“
